A Queen Always Wears Her Crown

As I get further into the natural hair game (I had my 5 year napturalversary in June) I'm starting to realize that I really don't like having to do my hair everyday. Not only that, I like to stick to my trusty wash 'n' go. It never fails me. At this point, I just have way too much freakin' hair and I can't be bothered!
So imagine my excitement when I re-discovered headwraps ('cause let's be honest, it's not like I didn't know about them. Erykah Badu was an icon for me when she debuted back in 1997). About a two years ago, I was minding my business, surfing social media and the web when I came across this amazing YouTube video that had four headwrap tutorials. Sis was killing it! (see below). I was determined from that video to learn how to perfect my headwrap game.
When I first started wrapping in 2014, I used a lot of soft scarves from TJ Maxx or Vera Bradley. I did lots of headband styles.

Fast forward to 2017, I bought my first African kente cloth print wrap at a Kwanzaa bazaar. I used to shy away from those types of wraps because I felt the cotton was too hard and difficult to manipulate. Boy, was I wrong!! African print fabric is THE BEST for creating a lovely crown. Why? You can get so much volume and height with it! Who doesn't love that? I know I do.

All that to say, now that I've found my crowns (i.e. headwraps), I almost never want to take them off. I went from having 1 to like 30, and I don't see me stopping anytime soon.
